ROAMERS RETURNS : Enter The Newdawn Saga Here

ROAMERS Returns: Enter the Newdawn Saga

There is a particular kind of story that refuses to stay finished. You write the last page, you close the file, and years later it is still there — not gone, just waiting for the parts of it you weren’t ready to tell yet.

That is the story of ROAMERS.

What began as a single volume has returned as something larger: ROAMERS, Author’s Archive Expanded Edition, Book One of the Newdawn Saga. The core of the original story is intact — the world of 2098, the girl named Tesh, the group of young people who call themselves family long before they understand what that will cost them. But the edition now in your hands (or about to be) has grown. Ten new chapters sit inside the existing structure, not bolted onto the end but woven through it — filling in the years of training, custody, and quiet erosion that shaped these characters before the story you may already know begins.

If you’re new to Newdawn, here’s the shape of it without spoiling the discoveries themselves: by 2098, humanity has survived a catastrophe that reordered civilization. Cities rebuilt themselves taller and stranger than before. A powerful artificial intelligence called DAINN was built to help guide what came next. And a small number of young people — Tesh among them — were selected for something called the Institute long before they understood why.

Then a signal arrives that does not belong to anything DAINN’s models can explain. And the group finds itself asking the question that drives the entire Newdawn Saga: if the future cannot be saved from where they stand, what happens if they go back and try to change what led here?

ROAMERS is built to work as a complete, satisfying read on its own — a found-family story with real stakes, real loss, and a central mystery that pays off. But it is also the opening chapter of something much bigger. The Newdawn Universe has been in development since 2011, built not just as fiction but as a piece of long-range thinking about where technology, governance, and human choice might actually take us. ROAMERS is the entry point into that larger world — the first place where the ideas become people you care about.

Why the Expanded Edition, and why now

The original manuscript always had more in it than made it to the page the first time. Origin stories for Tesh, for Leane, for the whole ensemble — the years inside the Institute that explain who they were before the mission that defines the rest of the book. Revisiting the manuscript years later meant an honest choice: leave those chapters undeveloped, or go back in and do the harder work of building them out properly, in continuity with everything the original book had already established.

The Author’s Archive Expanded Edition is the result of that second choice. Ten new chapters. A rebuilt structure so the pacing still lands correctly with the added material. A new front and back matter, including a glossary for readers who want to go deeper into Newdawn terminology, and a real look at how the book itself came together — because the making of ROAMERS is, in its own way, part of the story now too.

Where to start

If the cast of characters, the world of Ang City 2098, or the mystery of the Signal already has you curious, the next several posts in this series go deeper into each one — Tesh’s story, DAINN’s, the city itself, and the central question of what it means to try to change the past to save the future.

ROAMERS: Author’s Archive Expanded Edition arrives November 17. Until then, follow the Signal as we open the Archive and reveal the world behind the story.
